Obtaining that dream job

As an applicate in today’s job market, you need to be prepared to answer two questions according to your situation.
1. Does your education qualify you for the position?
2. Do you have the technical skills to perform the duties that your LCA approved job title and classification require?
In today’s competitive marketplace a simple yes is not a sufficient answer. When the interviewer inquires why you believe you qualify, they want you to explain precisely how your skills and experience match the job description specifications. This is not a time to be vague and unprepared; you’re answer should be well thought out, specific and concise.
Your answer will accomplish two things for the interviewer:
1. Allow the interviewer to gauge how well your skills and experience match the needs of the position.
2. Give a clear picture of how you perceive the available position.
There are a few rules to remember when answering the question, “What makes you the best candidate for the position?”:
1. Be concise, give a lot of information clearly in a few words.
2. Be specific, give clear definitions.
3. Show the correlation between your skills, experience, and education and the specific needs of the prospective employer.
4. Know your prospective employer and the detailed specifications of the position. Do your homework.
5. Be confident, not over-confident.
The job market today is fierce, the competition has never been greater, and the opportunities are in such an abundance that these factors create an immense need for intensive preparation on the part of the job applicant.
